PEI changed its policies on work permits for foreign students back in 2023, so that less of them would be able to receive permanent residence after getting their useless diplomas. Indians are really mad about it because they have a God-given right to live in YOUR country, chud.

This article talks more about the situation:

Foreign workers in Canada's Prince Edward Island will hold a day-long protest on May 13 against changes in the province's immigration policy that would reduce the intake of permanent residents by 25 per cent. A demonstration was held in Charlottetown on Friday over the issue.

A large number of students from Punjab living in the province are likely to be affected by the policy changes, announced by the province in February, as many of them work either on work permits or as international students. The burden on the healthcare and housing sectors were cited as the reason to reduce the intake. The focus would now be on nominating workers in the healthcare, childcare and construction trades.

“This has left the hundreds of foreign workers working in the retail and services sector hopeless as they are unlikely to get their work permit renewed once it expires. Even if they shift to the healthcare, childcare and construction trades now, they won't get any benefit as work permits in these sectors will be extended only to those who have prior experience,” said Manpreet Kaur Longowal, a volunteer of the Montreal Youth Students Organisation (MYSO).

Gunn, who works as a human resources assistant and is currently on maternity leave, has been living with her ex-partner for 10 months as she scours rental ads multiple times a day. She said she needs to get out, but she's starting to feel hopeless.

"I've been looking for so long and I just feel like landlords and big corporations, they get to just cherry-pick because they have so many applications and they just pick the one that makes the most income," she said. "I have a good job ... I pay all my bills. And now I could be homeless."

Golly almost like being a single mom is a bad choice.

She's working with a housing support worker, but they haven't been able to find her a rental either.

Gunn said if she can't find a safe and affordable place to rent soon, she may have to give up primary custody of her children to their fathers, who have stable living situations.

:#marseyxd: Fathers.

But it may be for the best. Maybe you should've consider this before being a hoe

Alexis Dingwell is also searching for housing for herself and her two-year-old son. She currently rents a room in a house with 10 people.

She said she has applied to hundreds of rentals that are close to her $1,500 budget but she is always denied. In one instance, she was told it's because she has a young child.

Sue. They literally said the quite part outloud. Drag the r-slur to the HRC and milk them like a paypig. A black guy got 10K a few years ago because he was singled out and made to prepay for his meal.

"I think it's ridiculous, honestly, 'cause where else are we supposed to live if we can't live in your building," Dingwell said. "It's an apartment building, it's for people to live, it's for people to be safe. And you're telling me I can't live there because I have a kid? It just doesn't make sense."

Makes perfect sense. No one wants to deal with children, especially those of a single mother

Of the 30 Canadian colleges and universities granted the most international study permits last year, all but one are public.

lol, apparently the "college mill" idea wasn't accurate, as the strip mall colleges don't make up close to as many international student numbers as public schools.

These are permits in 2023 alone. How do you even fit 30k indians in one school? I don't even think my uni has 30k students total.

From the comments on reddit:

Was just in Cape Breton twice this year after 5 years away. There is a huge change in the population. It felt like 50% of the service industry workers I was helped by were international students primarily from India. Most people I spoke with feel badly for the students who are being lied to by the University about job and housing possibilities in Cape Breton. There have never been lots of jobs in Cape Breton. Never, ever. They are angry with local politicians and the University for this big cash grab.

A flight I was on in Jan. arrived from Toronto at 2am and the University had a table set up with a person yelling for the students on the flight to come to him. He was near baggage pick-up and was guiding them on their next steps and what forms they needed etc. About a third of the flight appeared to be students (maybe 20-30 people-the flight was not full) from mainly India and some from African nations.

It all felt very urgent and like people were being pushed through an assembly line. Not the kindness you'll often feel in Cape Breton.

:marseyeyeroll2: why do people pretend that the biggest issue is that indians were "sold a lie"? we all know you're just sick of seeing poos everywhere.

Cape Breton is basically India it's fricked

darn, looks like nowhere is safe from the brown menace. All the way in the east coast? Wouldn't be surprised if there were indian sightings in Alert at this point

I genuinely hate Canadians

"La special ketchup chips! We are so polite! [Read: 95% of us live next to New England and we think America is New York City and base our identity on not being that]"

They are massively overrepresented as right wing grifters who pretend to be American. They descend from loyalists to England and snooty frogs and they try falsely claiming to have burned down the Whitehouse as their national historical story of pride, even though that was done entirely by Britain. They're losers all around and every single one I've encountered has been a butthole.

Manitoba man has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his 30-year-old partner, their three young children and a relative of his partner

Dude murdered his baby momma and all their kids including a toddler. The kids were in a car he set on fire, no word if they were still alive at that point though. The media and chiefs immediately start running the usual narratives:

Manoakeesick has a history of addiction and mental health issues[...]the then-25-year-old struggled with mental health issues that included anxiety and depression[...] is a member of Garden Hill First Nation, but had been in foster care since he was eight.

It's not on record but people who watched the presser said the grand chief went so far as to say this act showed how much he loved his kids.

It never ends with these socioeconomic casualties, I hope reconciliation fixes this all soon. I'm going to voluntarily contribute more to taxes in 2024, to fund more programs for these poor souls.

  • iStillMissEd : I know for a fact u could translate this for us and just choose not to

So APPARENTLY you can get money if youre a native who was forced to go to day school which as a racist colonizer you would think is literally just school.

BUT apparently no. Day schools, chud, were JUST as bad as residential schools, maybe worse because they had to cram 24 hours of oppression into just 8.

The government paid out like 6 BILLION dollars to the heya hoyas in an effort to put the matter to rest but they want to reopen the settlement because they spent all their money on smokes and lottery tickets already or smth.

Basically this means they will be able to keep the settlements open in perpetuity all the while launching new ones, on top of the other ever increasing funding they ask for.
