VIDYA SURVEY PARTICIPATION IS OBLIGATORY

I got some of rdrama's most notorious lurkers to finally open up and talk so why won't YOU participate?

>Where? What? Who are you? What's going on?

Darn if only there was a way to message people on this site and find out what's going on behind the scenes wouldn't that be crazy? :marseyhmmm:

Well, in case you haven't been messaged yet you're either not particularly active on this site, haven't spoken about anything interesting, or (and much more likely) I just don't like you.

Still, your opinion is valuable and I desperately need MORE data.

I asked Geto if it's okay to 'leak' those messages and they were completely d'accord. Your data is secure... :marseyglow:

Blocked and Reported made an episode about Patrick Tomlinson today. I haven’t listened to it because I’m at work and I don’t really care much about him besides being vaguely aware that he’s one of God’s most pathetic wretches.

The Opie and Anthony people showed up literally within seconds of the episode’s release to shit up the sub, but the world’s only based janny was already on the scene and the mop was immediately deployed. No screens from me; it was that fast. The sub has locked down and currently only approved posters from the janny’s hand curated list of special boys are allowed to comment.

Anyway someone pinged Patrick Tomlinson’s reddit account in the thread. The Man Himself has reportedly messaged the janny asking for permission to tell his side of the story. The userbase is currently discussing whether to allow this, and are leaning toward setting him loose, after which i believe he will child all over the place.

The grass was good btw. I touched grass :marseygrass: in 3 different states and planted some of my own while I was gone. It’s good to be back :marseyhearts:

Highlights

I am a Latinx – a term used to describe people of Latin American heritage – woman of colour who grew up as the youngest child in a strict Catholic family in the south of Guayaquil, Ecuador. I moved to Ireland in May 2015 – two weeks before your country became the first to legalise same-s*x marriage by popular vote – with the intention of living and working here for two or three years. But the marriage equality referendum made a huge impression on me. I did not expect such a progressive movement from a historically Catholic country like the one I grew up in. My opinion of Ireland was formed and I have since found it to be a loving, accepting and considerate country, always on the forefront of progressive social change.

That is why one aspect of Irish culture sits so uncomfortably with me: the widespread use of fake tanning products.

To me, fake tan represents more than just an innocuous cosmetic choice; it raises questions of cultural appropriation and fetishisation of the high melanin content found in more pigmented people.

By artificially darkening skin, fake tanning culture inadvertently perpetuates the fetishisation of high melanin content, without acknowledging the struggles faced by those who naturally possess it.

When a white Irish woman dons a fake tan for a night out, she is essentially wearing a costume that allows her to experience a fleeting taste of a more exotic identity, without having to endure the lived experiences of people with naturally darker skin tones. Even today, those experiences can be distressing

In the spirit of solidarity and sisterhood, I encourage you to explore alternative methods of self-expression that do not contribute to the appropriation or fetishisation of melanin. Let us work together to challenge, and to dismantle.

Favorite Soup?

I love soup. Unfortunately, I now live in an area where soup is nearly the same temperature as outside. I still enjoy it on the winter months and inside my home if I lower my thermostat down 3 degrees to 65.

Anyway, here are my top 3 soups in no particular order (they are all #1!):

Pho- I know the Vietnamese have a few other great dishes, but I will never try them. Why bother? They somehow perfected chicken soup, which is probably the #1 comfort food of everyone in the Western world (and Vietnam apparently). Everyone knows what chicken soup tastes like, so I don't need to tell you, but they add a bunch of crap that makes it better.

Red Curry- All curries are amazing. It's creamy, sweet, spicy, and savory. It triggers nearly every taste sensation. You can't go wrong with any curry, but red is my favorite. I like spicy foods and red typically is the spiciest. Add pineapple and shrimp and I think this dish has one of the most complete taste palates.

French Onion- I don't care much for french cuisine. I don't see much of a difference between them and the Chinese that eat live mice. At least the Chinese don't pretend like it's some high cultured experience. However, no one can deny their cheese, baguette, and french onion soup is amazing. Rich, sweet, salty, and savory. The only reason this isn't known as an American dish is because they had several centuries head start.

What's your favorite soups?!

A flesh-eating “zombie drug” called xylazine has been saturating the streets of Los Angeles with severe, deadly effects when mixed with illicit opioids... also known as “tranq” or “tranq dope” on the streets, xylazine has become increasingly present in the illicit drug supply. The drug can be cooked down into a powder form and mixed with illicit opioids such as heroin and fentanyl or pressed into counterfeit pills or sedatives. The “zombie drug” nickname stems from the substance’s known effect of rotting the skin.

:#marseyzombie2:

“It’s really gruesomely disfiguring people,” said Bill Bodner, an FBI Special Agent. “It’s much more likely to stop someone from breathing and the things that come along with xylazine, it’s a vasoconstrictor. So when you’re injecting it, it’s actually reducing the blood circulation.”

Both the Drug Enforcement Administration and the L.A. County Health Department have issued urgent warnings about xylazine. Some say the county’s pilot program is a small step in the right direction to fight a massive drug war consisting of a staggering increase in deaths.

“When combined with opioids like fentanyl, as is frequently the case, xylazine enhances the life-threatening effect of respiratory depression (slowing or stopping breathing) caused by opioids, increasing the risk of overdose and death,” said county officials.

Some reddit threads from the last month.

Most krokodil users have less than three-year lifespan after they start using, and folks who study this kind of thing are predicting the same for tranq.

:#donkeykongdance:

In 50 years we'll find out that this was introduced to the supply with the intent to kill off junkies

This drug epidemic is somehow about to get a lot worse. Please educate yourself about the signs of overdose.. consider carrying nasal naloxone…people who overdose on these drugs often didn’t know this is what they were getting or didn’t know it would have this affect on them. Kids are dying from this crap. Before anyone says anything unkind, addiction is not an individual’s moral failure. Addiction is more often than not rooted in unresolved childhood trauma.

It's your job to save the rootin tootin heckin junkirinos because it's not their fault they keep injecting themselves with stuff a guy who eats dirt sold them. I like how the narrative has shifted from "just let them do what they want, it's safe and doesn't affect you" to "it's your responsibility to carry narcan around and do first aid on dying junkies."

Without supervised consumption sites and harm reduction supplies like drug test kits, naloxone, clean needle exchange etc…we’re just going to have more dead young people. A lot of these young people who are dying were teens a few years ago, who stole their parents Percocet or Xanax…this is what that has progressed to. When people who use drugs go to supervised consumption sites, they use their drugs which they were going to do anyways…but they also have the opportunity to connect with professionals who can help them when they’re ready. They have access to peer support. Connection is the opposite of addiction.

Not only is it junkies' rights to shoot up but we need to give each junkie a doctor to watch over him and resurrect him when he dies six times a day.

Apparently in New York the government will test you fentanyl to make sure it doesn't disintegrate you alive: https://old.reddit.com/r/nyc/comments/105q9mz/if_you_or_any_one_you_know_is_injecting_anything/?sort=controversial
