@BWC !nooticers

"I'm going to try it for the first time, do you have any reviews?"

"I looked at the list (a list of foreign men that members pass around) and it was the kid's dad."

"Is your peepee big?"

"Seongnam Pilot ○○○ Knowing Desi (Member Who Uses Dating App)?"

"I'm African and I'm not good at (s*x). The size was just like that."

The country's largest women-only community with 844,000 members has been embroiled in a controversy over the "women's version of the Nth room."

The 'Nth Room Incident', which broke out in February 2019, refers to a case of digital s*x crimes in which illegal pornography was created, traded, and distributed through a group chat room opened on Telegram. The victim was a woman and the perpetrator was a man. In the women's community, similar information is circulating, with only the genders of the victims and perpetrators reversed.

Community members were sharing detailed information about men they had met on dating apps that matched them with foreign men in the café, so-called "reviews."

Among them were minors. They post real photos of various foreign men and exchange information by obscenely mentioning the other person's appearance and genitals, such as "I have to do ○○", "I see ○○", and "I have seen this ○○○".

The so-called "U.S. Army Men Big Data Tank Count" list they shared in the café contained three pages of detailed information about U.S. soldiers. One member who seems to have taken the lead in making the list said, "I'm going to make it like an encyclopedia." There was also a "list of foreign men who use dating apps" shared among community members.

Attorney Kim Seung-hwan of GB Law Firm said, "Their actions may constitute a violation of the Information and Communications Network Act in that they are defamatory, and unauthorized disclosure of personal information may be punishable if it is done continuously or repeatedly under the Stalking Punishment Act."

According to the current law, a person who publicly discloses facts through an information and communication network for the purpose of slandering a person and defames another person shall be punished with imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine of not more than 30 million won, and a person who defames a person with false facts shall be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than seven years, suspension of qualification (occupational group) for not more than 10 years, or a fine of not more than 50 million won. A person who commits the crime of stalking shall be sentenced to up to three years in prison or fined not more than 30 million won.

Recently, the community took the lead in opposing the 2024 KXF The Fashion Festival, saying that it was an event that sexualized women. They called KXF a "prostitution expo" and joined a petition asking the local government to stop the event where KXF was scheduled to be held. Externally, while criticizing the sexual commodification of women, they point out that degrading men as sexual objects among themselves is not a double standard.

Community members opposed the KXF, saying, "It means not to do it in Korea at all. "Understand", "It's disgusting to look for other places", "I'm tired of it", "I'm suspicious why you can't do that", and "Dirty things". KXF, which features Japanese adult video (AV) actors, was eventually canceled after being "rejected by local governments and women's groups."

The sexual harassment approach of female community members towards foreigners also poses a risk of racism. In this community, foreign men are often referred to as objects of depersonalized sexual desire and consumption.

Koo Jeong-woo, a professor of sociology at Sungkyunkwan University, said, "There is a stereotype that men are the perpetrators and women are the victims of the so-called 'Nth room,' but this is an example that shows that women can be perpetrators at any time." He added, "Whether you are a man or a woman, you need to look at yourself to make sure that you are not participating in these sexual crimes."

Does Chick-fil-A not have the same anti-LGBTQ reputation anymore? Anecdotally, young people (Gen Z) keep casually announcing that they eat there and it's jarring to my aging millennial ears.

Chick-fil-A was THE culture war issue at a time when the term “culture war” was employed a lot less frequently (or at least I heard it less). Hard to believe the stigma is gone among presumably pro-LGBTQIA+ young people. 🤷‍♂️

Some 20-something at work just asked me where to find a Chick-fil-A (I didn't know, but others have asked me the same question). That's what inspired this…

There is no ethical consumption, but when a corporation becomes publicly associated with bigotry, mistreating workers, other social/environmental ills, I'll boycott in solidarity + to send a message. But seems like, eventually, people forget.

Boycotts can be an effective tool, but it seems like there is more awareness now than ever that systemic, radical change is necessary to address root causes of corporate greed/abuses (including capitalism itself). Consumer choices only go so far.

https://twitter.com/EricShapiro3/status/1791880151279505443

what does woke mean?

Woke's over, younger Gen Zs and Gen Alpha dgaf about this stuff

Not sure how you personally define “wokeness,” but Gen Z is extremely concerned about LGBTQ+ rights according to available data (regardless of whether they connect it with a specific chicken place).

Wokeness = radical liberalism and performative politics. There's a polarisation - some Gen Zs (those older and closer to millennials) are woke, but overwhelmingly the younger section do not seek institutional approval (couldn't get it anyway) and so aren't led by the radical liberalism of the PMC (as millennials were). Plus, now every other school / guidance counsellor / social worker / university is promoting woke radlib ideology it's not viewed as ‘cool' (every generation rebels in their youth, as Nick Cave said if he were 16 today he'd go to church [to be counter-cultural]) and that's partly why we see a resurgence of trad. Many polls indicate Gen-Alpha (turning 14) are the most right-wing / conservative in generations. But there is a huge split amongst the sexes (young men are much more likely to be rightwing / conservative than young women).

except that's not what woke means. yall should stop talking about things you have no idea about [black woman speaking]

Now I'm starting to understand better why some people think being ‘woke' is a bad thing smh

it's conservatives taking words ( aave) they don't know the meaning of and basically turning them into a slur. so now the entire country thinks woke is something it's not [black woman speaking]

https://twitter.com/DrJenIzaakson/status/1792166612235137399

We don't get no rewards for not eating there

Not funding organizations that hate you?!?!

I think this is a fair point. But at the end of the day, no ethical consumption in capitalism. I fund governments that hate me every single day, baby. May as well get some Polynesian with it.

“There's no ethical consumption under capitalism “ doesn't mean I should spend and vote with my dollars recklessly

I don't vote recklessly. But you're a great example why I eat the chicken. This shit turns you off to regular people who have a lot in common with you. What am I really helping by freaking out over chicken and telling them about themselves? Cutting them off? Over some nuggets.

Highly incorrect. MSG is not addictive just awhole lot of racially charged history behind it. Many things have MSG both naturally and added. The addictiveness comes from fats and salts. Chick fil a is just more of brand type to show off similar to iPhones and other hyped things. :marseyakshually:

Cool dudes of drama.net: tell me what product, hobby or thing you totally soy out over?

I tend to think soy boys don't really feel that happy and are exaggerating mild happiness in order to mask their existential misery.

Like maybe there's been a few instances of moments of pure joy where the right photographer might have lucked out and caught me doing a soy gape, but the only occasions I can think of are moments where friends/family/pets have done something spontaneously funny. Never when <latest thing=""> has been announced. And certainly never while looking directly at the camera.</latest>

But scepticism aside, here's what gets me closest to soygaping:

Coffee

I am an unashamed coffee snob. I have a >£4,000 espresso setup including a La Mazzocco Linea Mini and a Eureka Atom grinder and I totally soy out over the process of making espresso and also pour over coffee.

This is one area where I frequently lie to my wife and connive to spend money without her knowing because she wouldn't understand if she knew the true cost of this hobby.

Me inside when my coffee arrives in the post:

https://i.rdrama.net/images/1716203489146948.webp

Volvos

I love Volvos. I love seeing other people's Volvos. I like old Volvos and new Volvos. I've got a moose sticker on my Volvo.

I am looking forward to getting the new Volvo EX30 very soon, and hoping they release some electric wagons so I can continue my Volvo wagon habit into the future.

I just can't see myself ever buying any other manufacturer. They're not the fastest or the highest end, but man are they practical and well-designed.

Me when I'm driving my Volvo and I see another Volvo or I'm watching the early reviews of the new EX90:

https://i.rdrama.net/images/17162034892058444.webp

Manly Scents

I've got an unopened bottle of Gaultier² which is my absolute favourite.

I want to clone myself and have s*x with myself every time I sniff myself. So hot.

They've relaunched it, but it apparently doesn't smell the same as the original so I'm saving it for a special occasion. Either that or selling it to some other nerd for £400+.

Burberry London is another favourite.

Not just sprays though. Anykind of manly shower gel or beard oil, etc. Even the rare manly scented candle just gets me soying out like:

How about you? What gets you soygaping, either literally or in your mind?

Here's the source image, morons whining about "inflation adjusted" despite obviously having no clue what that means

Whole thread.

They need to adjust for inflation.

Now compare to COL for each generation.

This means nothing without accounting for inflation. It doesn't matter if younger generations are making double if the prices of everything has quadrupled.  For the pedants I. Just saying double and quadruple as examples, not literally.

This fool is onto nothing whatsoever:

And most of those gains are going to previous generations via housing

This twerp tries to double down:

Now do adjusted for inflation and add food, fuel, housing and healthcare to the CPI. Not just rent, not just net healthcare profit, not excluding fuel and electricity while offsetting it with cheap TVs.

It is adjusted {and a bit more yapping here}

I specifically called those things out because CPI doesn't cover those things. "Rent equivalent", "Excluded for volatility", and rural excluded pricing.

It includes all of those things you conspiratorial goober.

Look up how CPI is calculated and I'll accept your apology as confirmation that someone learned something. You can't take inflation rates at face value.

{More yapping, walls of text}

This flop calls blue "red"

Lots of boomers in here can't handle the truth. Living now is Hard Mode compared to their experience.

Reminder that these mooks are certain socialism will solve all their problems and they're economic geniuses. Legitimately zero argument against locking them in gimp suits and milking them for stem cells btw.

A big Simpsons thread from two years ago is getting new traction on Twitter as new generations realize the Sneed show was funny (rip Phil Hartman). However, zoomers are so used to musicals that reheat dead franchises with corny music that they fail to understand why Planet of the Apes: the Musical is funny.
