I made the post 9 days ago edit: a different post on modsupport 17 days ago about the same issue . I got the same response as you to my modmail - escalating to another team. Since then my subreddit has had dozens of posts and hundreds maybe thousands? of additional comments from users complaining about these ads.

This pisses me off so much. I’m sick of seeing that religious ad, as well as baby/parenting/pregnancy ads as a childfree person. ... This is making me want to avoid Reddit, despite being a longtime user and mod.

I’ve also blocked the account and have had multiple users complain to me. I run r/weddingdress, tons of the users aren’t Christian and I certainly am not. I report these ads as hate speech when I still see them

Now I'm wondering - if a user is banned from a subreddit, can they still purchase ads for that subreddit? Because if admins are pulling a "twitter checkmark" thing here where you can say whatever you want so long as you fork over a few bucks, that would be a huge opportunity for trolling.

There’s a distinction to be made about being addicted to addictive substances and being unwilling to take easy actions to prevent yourself from getting ill.

Often obese, alcoholics, and smokers get addicted when they’re children (before 18) and it carries on through adulthood.

There’s also the fact that obese, smokers, and alcoholics aren’t advocating that others join them as their lifestyle is actually the healthier one.

This is something that shouldn’t have to be said, but now that the can of worms is open, we have to be better, we have to be the bigger man.

I’ve been being pretty vocal recently on the main subs about the objectification of women in comics. One of the maine reasons I joined this sub was because there’s typically a large amount of jerks surrounding said objectification. There are plenty of times when the entire community takes the time to bonk creators for insering their fetishes, or being distasteful or off-color. This is being lost here. We’re becoming what we used to rag on, and it’s not cool.

I am 100% against the sexualization of comics. Sexual content has basically no place in certain corners of the medium. Specifically general audience superhero comics. It’s one of the main reasons I read DC over Marvel, there’s about 100% less s*x scenes. This may sound cheesy, but the characters we love in this sub and others are meant to inspire us. Wonder Woman, Starfire, Power Girl, heck even Harley Quinn, are heroes, icons, role models, they shouldn’t be relegated to wank bait.

I understand it’s a long-standing cliche. Wonder Woman has been tied up since like 1913. That doesn’t mean it has to remain, or is somehow intrinsically valuable to the medium. Sexy art and sexual content may sell comics, but not to this audience, and not to the right portions of it.

We will be a safespace for women here. I’ll fight for it as hard as I can. I expect my peers to have a similar reaction. I’ve always seen the circlejerk format as the most pure lens to view content. It requires significant literacy to meaningfully interact, and our consensus’s usually make more sense than others. Basically, /r/dccj is the shit, we’re the best, obviously. We know that we’re better than comics twitter, the comicsgaters, or the members of /r/BatmanArkham. So let’s show it.

Show respect to the female paragons we’re reading about. Take the time to understand the literal feminist icons we love so much. And most of all, support the female creators fighting for their place in the industry, and celebrate the male creators working to make comics a safer and more inclusive place.

Be the bigger man, it’s what Superman would want.
